And now their full story from their wedding website!

Born in Queensland Australia, Jack & his family moved to the U.K. at the age of four, before returning to Australia at 13. After completing high school in Kiama, New South Wales, Jack obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) from the University of New South Wales, where he & Emily met. A true ‘geek’, Jack now works in project management with a focus on I.T.

A true Mainer, Emily was born and raised in the Portland area. Emily graduated from Cheverus High School, and then went to the University of New Hampshire for a BA in Communications. During her time at UNH, Emily was very involved in Kappa Delta Sorority, and chose to do a semester abroad in Sydney, Australia. After years in broadcast journalism, Emily recently moved into the marketing sector and works for a manged IT service provider in Portland.

After shocking his family with slightly better than average high school results – Jack heads to the University of New South Wales in Sydney, about two hours north of his family home in Berry.

Emily heads down south on an adventure that ends up changing her life. In an effort to explore some more of the world, she settles on Australia as an exciting change of pace for a semester of her education.

After being introduced by two mutual friends, Jack plucks up the courage to ask Emily out on a date. Having gone far enough outside of his comfort zone by asking, he opts to take her to his ‘safe-place’… the romance of the local uni pub.

A joyful month together came to a close when Emily headed home to the states. The plan was to try and stay in touch as friends, but an emotional airport farewell led them both to the answer in their hearts that this couldn’t be goodbye for long.

Having both completed University (and multiple trips overseas to visit each other) and finding themselves at a turning point, a plan was made. Jack would move to the States for a relationship without the long distance.

After nearly 5 years of dating, Jack finally decided to get down on one knee and ask Emily to spend the rest of their lives together. They spent the weekend celebrating with family and friends near and far, and then began the wedding planning.

In front of their family and friends from across the world, Emily and Jack *embarked* on their biggest journey together!
