The Portland Maine Brewery wedding celebration of Kelly & Dani
How did you two meet?
We met working at a sleep research lab in Boston. Dani was a student interning there and Kelly was managing a research team. We quickly bonded over hiking and a shared dark, weird sense of humor and became fast friends. Kelly fell in love very quickly (who wouldn’t) and over time our friendship bloomed into something more intimate and special. Once Kelly professed her love, there was no going back and our relationship was born.
Why did you choose to get married at the location that you did?Though our love was born in Boston, it grew to epic proportions in Maine where we have happily made our home. We know deep in our souls that Portland is our perfect home, and we wanted to celebrate our marriage in the place we love most on earth, the place we feel most ourselves, and the place that we have built a beautiful life together. Between the boat, the hotel, and the reception at Austin Street we got our pretty nature shit, our fancy shit, and our casual beer shit — all of our favorite Portland shit!! We used all local vendors and now have built these epic memories that we will always have, whether we are physically home in Portland or on the other side of the world.
Were there any happy surprises that happened at the wedding?Uh, yeah — obvi the song was an amazing surprise!! It was pretty surprising not having Chris, our officiant, make it to the boat but I guess that wasn’t so happy haha. Kelly also surprised Dani the morning of the wedding with a cool pair of Ray Bans shed been wanting for years, and a GoPro to document all of our future adventures together.
What moment sticks out to you above all of the others from the wedding? It’s hard to pick one moment that stands out, generally we are obsessed with everything that happened on the boat. The song and vows were most special to us, popping champagne after with everyone felt like the most joyous celebration of the day, and taking pictures just the two of us at the front of the boat were all the loveliest moments.
Now that the wedding is over, what are you going to do with all of your free time?!Free time?! Ha! Cute. Jk, we will definitely have some extra time that we are REALLY looking forward to using to relax and enjoy each other’s company. And obviously, we are planning our next adventures. Dani has a medical conference in Hawaii in November, so we will get to go there for the first time! We are also hoping to do the Salkantay Trek in Chile next May!
