Virginia & Andy | A Wedding at The Myopia Hunt Club

The Myopia Hunt Club wedding of Virginia & Andy

How did you two meet?

We met at Middlebury College in spring of 2013. Then a sophomore, Virginia had been invited to a St. Patrick’s day house party by her friends on the baseball team, and the house turned out to be Andy’s (and Drew’s!). We got paired up for beer pong as one does in college. Andy was a senior and graduated and moved to Boston, and reached out to Virginia to reconnect and get to know the city (where Virginia is from, whereas Andy grew up in Minnesota). Virginia ended up going to London to study abroad the following fall, but in the summer of 2014 Andy asked her out for birthday drinks and we started seeing each other ever since! Virginia was headed back to Midd for senior year that fall and while things weren’t “official,” Andy would drive the 3 hours from Boston on Friday nights after working all week just to see Virginia (usually with wine in tow for her and all her roommates). After many weekends traveling up and back and three times popping the question, Virginia finally saw the light and said let’s do this late in the fall of 2014. We’ve been together ever since!

Why did you choose to get married at the location that you did?

Myopia has been a special place for us for most of our relationship; Virginia grew up spending time there with family and took Andy to lunch there for his birthday in the summer of 2014. Since then we’ve spent many happy times at Myopia and feel at home there. In April 2022 we actually became members ourselves, which is a thrill and an honor and we are so excited to be able to return to our wedding location and relive those memories all the time.

Were there any happy surprises that happened at the wedding?

  • Originally we had planned for the Myopia hounds to come out after the ceremony and greet us as newlyweds, but they were double booked (busy schedules, VIPs!). Steve the club manager knew how much we wanted them and without telling us arranged for the huntwoman to be dressed in her colors and follow our getaway car to the club. Not what we had planned, but even sweeter for the effort Steve went to to arrange something similar that he thought we might like.
  • Ross Hardigan ripping his pants on the dance floor pretty early in the night signaled how awesome the band was
  • Wedding day gifts to each other

What moment sticks out to you above all of the others from the wedding?

  • The Myopia staff clapping & crying when I came out in my gown for the first time for our first look
  • Driving away in our getaway car
  • Speeches blowing everyone away
  • Our first dance, and Virginia being so hyped up on adrenaline before that I got SO nervous to dance in front of everyone

Now that the wedding is over, what are you going to do with all of your free time?!

Settle into our new house in Marblehead!

Abby & Connor | A Sophisticated Bar Harbor Wedding

The Sophisticated Bar Harbor Wedding of Abby & Connor

How did you two meet?

We met through friends! We have a very close mutual friend who brought us together on a weekend away on Martha’s Vineyard. After that quick weekend together getting to know each other, the rest was history!

Why did you choose to get married at the location that you did?

We knew we wanted a classic, Maine coastal wedding. We looked at a few venues along the Maine coast, but as soon as we saw the BHC, we instantly knew that was the spot! Abby spent her childhood years vacationing with her family in Bar Harbor & we both spent a week there recently with Connor’s family, as well. It’s such a special place!

Were there any happy surprises that happened at the wedding?

Reading Connor’s letter to me the morning of the wedding was so special! Also, the weather! We couldn’t have asked for a better day – especially the surprise sunset at the end of the night!

What moment sticks out to you above all of the others from the wedding?

Right after the ceremony, Connor & I took 10 minutes just to ourselves. We went up to the 2nd floor of the BHC and out onto the small deck overlooking the entire wedding + cocktail hour! That moment was so special and cool to be up above looking down on where the ceremony had just taken place, as well as all of our friends and family!

Now that the wedding is over, what are you going to do with all of your free time?!

We just got back from our honeymoon in Italy! Now it’s on to a very busy and exciting hockey season for Connor so most of our time will be spent in a hockey rink for the next 7-8 months 🙂

Jill & Tucker | Marriage during COVID

jill tucker marriage during covid

The celebration of Jill & Tucker | a marriage during COVID spanning 2 years

We had the pleasure of getting to know Jill & Tucker over the course of 3 years. They had originally planned a 2020 wedding celebration, but COVID changed their plans for their larger celebration… not just once, not even twice, but three times.

They had a small family gathering on their original wedding date, June 27, 2020, where they signed the Ketubah, exchanged vows, and were officially pronounced husband & wife. They had planned on hosting their larger reception for extended friends & family in the spring of 2021, but decided to reschedule until the summer once things on the COVID front seemed more certain. The wait was well worth it, because the party and weather were flawless!

We can’t thank Jill & Tucker enough for their grace, patience, ability to roll with the punches, and understanding throughout the entire process. Planning a wedding through a pandemic is no easy feat– if these tow can weather the storms that 2020 & 2021 brought, then they can handle anything!

Kristen & Stephen | A Beauport Gloucester Wedding

Kristen stephen beauport

The weekend-long Beauport Gloucester wedding celebration of Kristen & Stephen

How did you two meet?
Steve and I met at UMass Amherst. We were freshman. It was finals week and we both decided going to a party was more important than studying. The next summer when we both returned to campus in August (I played soccer and had preseason and Steve was on the hockey team who returned to campus early to workout and take summer courses) we reconnected. He took me on a few scooter rides and the rest is
history!

Why did you choose to get married at the location that you did?
We both grew up going to the Northshore – i.e., Crane Beach, Wingaesheek, Woodman’s. We knew we wanted to get married on the water. Gloucester specifically has a special place in Steve’s heart – he spent many summers there at friends’ homes. He loves Fiesta – Greasy Pole.

Were there any happy surprises that happened at the wedding?
The weather was absolutely perfect! We are still shocked at how everything went so
smoothly.

What moment sticks out to you above all of the others from the wedding?
Our AMAZING vendors. How special the first look was and taking time together at
sunset. The dance was amazing!

Now that the wedding is over, what are you going to do with all of your free time?!
It is operation BUY A HOUSE & GET A DOG(S) – Rufus (English bulldog) & Ralphie (Frenchie). It is also football season so Saturday is college football game day and Sunday is Red Zone!
